Abstract
A terotechnological approach to the analysis of any system is a cost effective performance evaluation over the life-cycle of the system. Thus it considers (I) the initial capital cost, (ii) the operating, maintenance, and repair costs, and (iii) the worth of lost production due to breakdown, frequent maintenance, and substandard performance. In a solar hot water system, the fuel cost being nil, an appropriate terotechnological approach would naturally emphasise on the selection of proper materials. Installation procedure, and maintenance schedule such that the system functions at its rated capacity during its design-life would not be affected by external environmental factors. It is attempted here to consider the different sub' systems and components, the initial and future costs, system sizing, installation procedure and maintenance schedule of a solar hot water system to achieve optimum life-cycle cost of the system
